Blessed Mary

The word “blessed” gets thrown around a lot in Christian circles. Being blessed does not mean living a life without suffering; it means having the presence and unalterable promises of God in those situations. It means having a life in which God is committed to conforming you more toward the image of Jesus and bringing others to know Jesus through you. Mary learned what it meant to be blessed, because she recognized God’s presence and promises were always with her.

Family is not an emotionally neutral subject. We either have positive or negative emotions concerning our family members. Regardless of our good or bad experiences, or what the hurt was like, or how much time has gone by since we spoke, we were created to care when it comes to family. Sometimes this means that we have to engage in the process of reconciliation. As Christians, we really have no choice in the matter but to open the door for reconciliation.

All families have one thing in common: conflict. Conflict within the family is often complicated and complex. With every problem we face, God has given us directions on how to deal with it in the best way. So, "What causes quarrels and what causes fights among you?"

Family Ties: What Can I do to Help?

If you knew that asking a simple question was the key to a great family, would you ask it? The word submission often gets a negative reaction, but Ephesians 5 gives us a biblical example of mutual submission that isn't negative at all. It's actually the cornerstone for the ideal family. Practically, we can benefit our family members by regularly asking them this one question.

You don't come from an ideal family. You haven't created the ideal family. There is real and there is ideal, and there is a gap between them. There is real and there is ideal, and there is a tension between them. And it is a tension we dare not resolve, because the future of our families depend on it. 

Pursuing Christ with Passion

Indifference. Lack of passion. It's something we all struggle to overcome. Sometimes we lack passion in our spiritual life. We will see that pursuing Christ with passion brings true joy. If we are passionate about something, we will urgently and sacrificially pursue it. When we are actively looking for Christ’s rule in our life, we are much more likely to find it.

The Goodness of God

What would happen if we lived in the reality of God's goodness? When we feed on God's goodness, we can truly experience who God is. "Oh, taste and see that the Lord is good!"

Sin is "a willful or deliberate violation of some religious or moral principle." But we don't like to think of ourselves as sinners. We like to think that we're mistakers who need to do better. The truth is that we are all sinners with no hope if we depend on our efforts and our righteousness. When we embrace the fact that we're a sinner, we are able to engage in God’s grace, forgiveness, pardon for sin, and have a personal relationship with our Savior, Jesus.

Another way that the unseen world affects our seen world is through authority. God is at work through human authority: the good and the bad. We will see that how we respond to authority is a spiritual issue.
