Ekklesia Week 5

Jesus' mission is the expansion of His kingdom. Bethel Community Church exists to carry out that mission by spreading the gospel and making disciples. His mission is accomplished by the generosity and stewardship of the believers. Investing in Jesus' mission is the most worthwhile investment.

Ekklesia Week 4

As we continue our series on the church, we are looking at the church of Laodicea from the book of Revelation. This church is known for being "lukewarm." They weren't passionate about serving Christ. Many Christians only make room for Jesus when it's convenient. At Bethel, we want everything we do to be about Jesus. We don't want to be a lukewarm church.

 

Ekklesia Week 3

Discipleship is what Jesus did. He asked the disciples to follow Him, and He's asked us to do the same. Jesus saves people. Jesus builds His church. We are to follow Jesus and lead other people to follow Him as well.

Ekklesia Week 2

The church has been given a mission. As a believer and follower of Jesus, we are all commanded to go and make disciples, who get baptized, and then teach them to live for Christ. At Bethel, we say that we exist to love and lead one another to find and follow Jesus. This is our Great Commission!

Ekklesia Week 1

The church is the most important organization of which you can be a part. In a nutshell, a New Testament church of the Lord Jesus Christ is an autonomous, local congregation of baptized believers, associated by covenant in the faith and fellowship of the gospel; observing the two ordinances of Christ, baptism and the Lord’s Supper. 21 Days // Week 5: When the Fast is Over

Fasting and prayer are spiritually powerful things. Even if the prayers you prayed were not answered during this time, God still heard your prayers. You are building a legacy that will affect the people you prayed for and the situations you prayed about. God cares, and God is at work. What kind of legacy are you leaving behind through your prayers?

21 Days // Week 4: Prayers that Move God

When you appeal to God’s heart, you can expect to see God’s hand. The God of the universe is not moved most by your love or dedication for Him, but He is moved by His love for you. Mary and Martha knew this, and they petitioned Jesus based on Jesus’ love for Lazarus when he was ill. God is able to do more than we can ask or imagine!

21 Days // Week 3: Prayer and Fasting

Through the story of Elijah and Ahab meeting at Mount Carmel to test whose god is more powerful, we learn that Elijah puts God's work above his own hunger. Elijah spends time praying rather than eating. When ordinary people who love God pray, powerful things happen. It’s not just 21 days of fasting and prayer, but 21 days of power as we see God do the impossible.

Bethel would like to start a New Year's tradition that focuses on prayer and fasting. Pastor Robert discusses different types of fasts and the purpose of them. Ultimately, fasting is a way to demonstrate to God and to ourselves that we are serious about our relationship with Him.
